Bangladesh Embassy celebrates 101st Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman


17 March 2021, Kathmandu: The Embassy of Bangladesh in Kathmandu, Nepal celebrated the 101st Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day 2021 on Wednesday, 17 March 2021 in a befitting manner. The programme began with the placing of floral wreaths in front of the portrait of Bangabandhu at the Chancery by the officials including family members of the Embassy, SAARC Secretariat and Bangladesh Biman. Members of the expatriate Bangladesh community living in Kathmandu also attended the programme. The wreath laying was followed by a Munajat for the salvation of the departed soul of Bangabandhu and for his martyred family members as well as for valiant freedom fighters who made supreme sacrifice for the country during the glorious War of Liberation in 1971.



The second part of the programme began with the reading out of the messages of the Hon’ble President, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Foreign Minister and Hon'ble State Minister for Foreign Affairs. Children from the Bangladesh community read out the messages. This was followed by screening of a documentary on the life, sacrifice and achievements of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in creation of an independent sovereign state. The Embassy arranged a short discussion session on the life and achievements of the Father of the Nation.

Children also took part in art competition on the theme “Bangabandhu and Bangladesh”. The art competition was participated by a good number of children. It was followed by a colourful cultural performances by the children.

In his concluding remarks, Ambassador Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury paid rich tribute to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for his contribution in building the foundation for a happy and prosperous country for the children. He mentioned that despite the COVID-19 pandemic, under the dynamic leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh was well on track for the realization of ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by our Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Only by following his ideals we can achieve sustainable development and stand with our head high in the comity of nations, he said.
